Training: Switching & Lightning Transients
Overview
This training will be held in English.
This course is designed to provide a deep understanding of switching and lightning transient phenomena using EMTP®. By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
-
Understand switching and lightning transient phenomena
-
Understand the challenges around transient studies
-
Know the data required for transient studies and where to find typical data
-
Know the main steps to perform an insulation coordination study (switching, lightning, TRV)
-
Know how to interpret the results provided by EMT-type software.
This course includes hands-on exercises and guided examples to build both theoretical understanding and practical skills.
Computer and temporary EMTP® licenses
Every participant is required to bring their own personal computer. Temporary EMTP® licenses will be provided to participants for the course’s duration.
Intended audience
This training is ideal for T&D electrical engineers, consultants, industry professionals, researchers, and post-graduate students involved in power system studies.
