SUMMARY:Workshop “Introduction to EMTP Simulations”
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nIn collaboration with the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Tabuk\, Saudi Arabia\, our EMTP® team is excited to offer a free online workshop\, focused on EMTP® simulations. Delivered entirely in Arabic\, this workshop provides participants with both hands-on experience and theoretical insights into the simulation of power system transients. \nThis workshop covers the following topics: \nDay 1 \n\nIntroduction to EMTP®\nTheoretical backgrounds on power systems and transients\, analysis methods\nExploring a range of issues:\n\nLightning\, Switching Operations\nTemporary Overvoltages\nElectromechanical Transients\n\n\nNumerical methods for simulation of transients\nEMTP® case study on “Protection of Microgrids” by Dr. Husam Samkari\nBuilding basic test cases\n\nDay 2 \n\nTransmission line models: from basic to advanced\nLoad-Flow and Steady-State solutions of EMTP®\nIBR modeling and simulations\n\nIntegration of Wind Parks and Photovoltaic Parks into power grids\nAvailable generic models\nInitialization from load-flow solution\nManufacturer models\n\n\n\nAudience\nThis course is intended for engineers\, researchers\, operators and maintenance personnel who use simulation software in general. It provides up-to-date technical expertise on renewable energy integration projects. \nTraining structure\nLanguage: Arabic \nThe duration is 2 days: October 14-15\, 2024 \nThe training starts at 13:00 h to 15:00 h (Saudi Arabia Time). \nComputer and temporary EMTP® license\nEach participant will have to bring a personal computer. EMTP® temporary licenses will be provided for the duration of the course. \nInstructor\nAmro Alsabbagh (Senior Member\, IEEE) received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in automatic control and computer engineering from Al-Baath University\, Syria\, and a Ph.D. in control science and engineering from the University of Michigan-Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute\, Shanghai\, China. \nHe is currently an EMTP® Research and Development Engineer at PGSTech. His current work focuses on developing the EMTP® solver\, co-simulation methods\, and analysis of power system transients. \nDr. Alsabbagh has reviewed papers for leading IEEE journals and received several academic awards. He is the treasurer in the executive committee of IEEE Montreal Section since 2021. \nView all trainings\n************** \nhttps://www.emtp.com/events/trainings
