SUMMARY:Training: Switching & Lightning Transients
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nThis training will be held in English. \nThis course is designed to provide a deep understanding of switching and lightning transient phenomena using EMTP®. By the end of the training\, participants will be able to: \n\n\nUnderstand switching and lightning transient phenomena \n\n\nUnderstand the challenges around transient studies \n\n\nKnow the data required for transient studies and where to find typical data \n\n\nKnow the main steps to perform an insulation coordination study (switching\, lightning\, TRV) \n\n\nKnow how to interpret the results provided by EMT-type software. \n\n\nThis course includes hands-on exercises and guided examples to build both theoretical understanding and practical skills. \n  \nComputer and temporary EMTP® licenses\nEvery participant is required to bring their own personal computer. Temporary EMTP® licenses will be provided to participants for the course’s duration. \n\nIntended audience\nThis training is ideal for T&D electrical engineers\, consultants\, industry professionals\, researchers\, and post-graduate students involved in power system studies. \n  \nProgram\nSession 1– 12th of May – 10am to 12pm \n– Insulation Coordination: Introduction \n\nOrigin and type of overvoltages\nDesign approach\nTransients in networks – basics\n\n  \nSession 2 – 13th of May – 9am to 12pm \n– Slow-Front Overvoltage (Switching) \n\nApproach\nModeling and simulation\nResults interpretation\n\n– Switching analysis with EMTP \n\nLab: Line re-energization\nControlled circuit-breaker\n\n  \nSession 3 – 14th of May – 9am to 12pm \n– Fast-Front Overvoltage (Lightning) \n\nDefinitions\nApproach\nModeling and simulation\nResults interpretation\nLab: lightning analysis\n\n  \nSession 4 – 15th of May – 10am to 12pm \n– Questions & Answers
